Sudan Social Cohesion Workshop

FECCLAHA in collaboration with Arigatou International, Norwegian Church Aid( NCA) and Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR), organized a training workshop for boards and executive committee members of Sudan Council of Churches (SCC) and Sudan Interreligious Council (SIRC).


The two-day training held in Khartoum from the  23rd of September 2019, brought together 25 participants, among them 23 men and 2 women who were taken through: Principles of governance and boards of organizations and councils, the need for a balanced board, Board structures, roles and procedures, Board leadership, duties and responsibilities, and Board members leading challenge (s) in a bid to build their capacity.


Also in attendance was Mr. Nasr- Eddin, Sudan Minister of Religion, who informed the participants that the ministry was for all religions in the country, adding that the key areas of the ministry were on peace, youth, women, freedom, justice and equality for all citizens. He also urged the SIRC leadership to work closely with the SCC as this will bring about a strong combination.


The Social Cohesion Initiative is part of the wider capacity building initiative under the Regional Peace Programme (RPP) majorly aimed at achieving the overarching project goal  of strengthening  and improving intra/intergroup  relations  in Khartoum and White Nile States, Sudan.
