Sudan Women Link share their Learning with the Ethiopia Faith Women during their Exposure Visit to Juba - FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN COUNCILS AND CHURCHES IN THE GREAT LAKES AND HORN OF AFRICA (FECCLAHA)

Sudan Women Link share their Learning with the Ethiopia Faith Women during their Exposure Visit to Juba

FECCLAHA in partnership with the South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) and Norwegian Church Aid Regional Peace Program (NCA/RPP) undertook a Learning and Exposure Forum for Women of Faith drawn from Ethiopia to interact with those in the SSCC Women Link for peace, which is National Chapter of the REFWOME in South Sudan. The South Sudan Women Link have vast experience and knowledge in peace building as they have contributed to relative peace and stability in the country through various initiatives since their inception in 2016. This includes monthly prayers and fasting coupled with solidarity and pastoral visits to various Protection of Civilians (PoCs) sites across different regions in the country.

Through this initiative the Ethiopia Women of Faith were inspired and were able to draw lessons that will help them initiate and heighten their community engagements towards sustainable peace in their country. The learning and exposure platform provided opportunities for the women of faith to learn strategies that would further their peace efforts through faith initiatives. A total of four women drawn from the Ethiopia Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) undertook the exchange process with five other women of faith from South Sudan who were accompanied by staff members of the South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC).

The Ethiopian Women of Faith accompanied by the South Sudan Women of Faith were also exposed to faith work on how to use Contextual Bible Study Methodology for peace building and conflict transformation. The women also paid courtesy calls to both the African Union Liaison Office and Mission to the Republic of South Sudan and IGAD Mission to the Republic of South Sudan in a bid to address some of the challenges like limited access to policy and decision makers faced by Women of Faith. This further provided faith women with spaces for advocacy.

The event is finished.
