Around forty young people in the community of Ibanda -South Kivu have received training on election observation  by the Organizational Innovation Network -RIO in partnership with FECCLAHA  ahead of the general elections scheduled for 20th December 2023. The vice-president of civil society in South Kivu and trainer, Maître Néné Bintu, indicates that the training was undertaken on the basis of the electoral law to equip observes on how the observation will be carried out, the expected behavior of the observers, the objectives of observation, types of observers and criteria for a good election.

The deputy coordinator of the RIO, Odile Bulabula, emphasizes that the training which is part of the election project dubbed “Tujenge kwa manzugumuzo”  (Let’s build through dialogue) also served to have a citizen perspective on the upcoming elections. She noted that when electoral malpractices are recorded in the observation reports, such records can help change and improve elections in the coming years.
