With the calls for the localization of peace building actions as well as contribution to peace at all levels during the commemoration of the International Day of Peace in September 2023, FECCLAHA rallied youth in a cross border peace advocacy initiative, building their capacity on the Ilemi Triangle conflict and appropriate policy and legislative, lobbying and advocacy.

Guided by the theme “Actions For Peace: Our Ambition For The #Global Goals” 30 youth drawn from South Sudan and Kenya border regions converged in Lodwar-Kenya where they were engaged in plenary discussions aimed at harvesting causes and drivers to conflict in the Ilemi triangle, a disputed oil rich area bordering Kenya and South Sudan, as a way of getting them involved in the actions towards global peace. 

While recognizing ongoing Cross Border Peace initiatives such as dialogue initiatives among cross – border communities, Capacity building on conflict resolutions and advocacy by different entities, and Cross – Border Social Activities e.g. Sports; the youth appealed to the Church Leaders and Faith institutions, Government institutions, Civil Society Organizations and Community Leaders to: support youth peace building activities across the borders, train and support Youth in spearheading advocacy messages across the borders to strategic stakeholders, encourage youth empowerment, and collaborate with the youth in spearheading peace building across the borders respectively to further enhance the global peace agenda.
