Peace Building and Conflict Transformation - FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN COUNCILS AND CHURCHES IN THE GREAT LAKES AND HORN OF AFRICA (FECCLAHA)

Peace Building and Conflict Transformation

Peace building and conflict transformation are key issues in the Great Lake and Horn of Africa. This is not only because the region is characterised by many conflicts, but much more so due to the realization that in most cases the conflicts have negative impacts on the region’s socio-economic and political development. Thus, conflict resolution and peace building processes have become very essential in solving the problem of conflicts in the region and by extension the continent.

Under this strategic focus area, FECCLAHA will engage in designing intervention strategies, building capacities, facilitating dialogue and reconciliation processes, contributing to early-warning and early-response mechanisms, and strengthening strategic partnerships and collaborations.

FECCLAHA will work with the member councils and churches in appreciating the role of youth, women and church leaders in conflict transformation and peace building. This strategy will address the challenges faced by church leaders, women, and youth which include inadequate knowledge and skills in peace building, conflict transformation, mediation, early warning and early response mechanisms and advocacy.
