Against the backdrop of reports on killings of at least 504 women between the year 2019 and 2024, faith-based organizations comprised of  All-Africa Conference of Churches, Church Women United, FECCLAHA, ACT Alliance and Christian Aid convened a hybrid Multi-Stakeholder Forum to chart a way forward on Ending Femicide in Kenya as a collective.

The Faith-based organizations and religious leaders through their clarion call “Silence is Violence; Say No to Femicide” called for unity to end the GBV vice. GBV, often fueled by deep-rooted gender inequalities, cultural norms, and systemic failures persist, remains a gross violation of Human Rights despite existing legislative frameworks and efforts by various stakeholders. They called for a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach involving government institutions, media, police service, legal system, religious institutions, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector in order to successfully address all forms GBV and femicide.

With statistics from the Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) indicating that over 45% of women have experienced physical or sexual intimate partner violence in their lifetime; some resulting to femicide and blames shifted to the survivors/ victims, the stakeholders pledged to speak out and unite against the vice for a GBV free society.
