What happens when young people from across East Africa come together to imagine the region they want to live in?
In Arusha, from the 21st – 23rd September 2026, young people from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda brought their experiences, challenges and aspirations to the table. From unemployment and limited participation in decision-making to digital misinformation and barriers to regional integration, the conversations revealed a shared reality that young people want more than promises. They want opportunities to shape their future.
Over three days, through dialogue, reflection and collective advocacy, these conversations shaped the Arusha Youth Communiqué, with priorities and commitments for a more peaceful, cohesive and integrated region.
The journey now moves from conversation to commitment, and from commitment to action.
